WASHINGTON — Lori Chavez-DeRemer said she wanted to "help" get the Union Pacific merger with Norfolk Southern approved while serving in the Trump administration.

Chavez-DeRemer told Vena the Trump administration has said it wants to help with compliance.

"We want America to be number one, and that's what we're focused on," she said. "So, I know that you visit with the president, I know that this next merger is a big deal, and we want to make sure that we can help you get all the way across the country and do all of those things."

Now that she is in the private sector, there is no position it seems Chavez-DeRemer won't take in order to make a buck, authoring an op-ed opposing the merger.

Here is what is crystal clear: The Trump administration supports the merger because it's good for American jobs, the American economy and slashes supply chain costs.
